Time to try out some new stuff! Darrell wanted to test out his pSeverius gun line against Kassem’s Skorne, and Kassem was super excited to get the (still unreleased!) Sentinels on the table… who says you can’t proxy a good game!?

Skorne turn 1:

Mostly everything runs up.
Paingiver task master puts tough and fearless on the Croaks.
Hexeris puts ashenviel on the croaks and walks up.

Menoth turn 1:
Tristan puts fortify on his Redeemer and advances up toeing into the forest.
Temple flameguard advance up in shield wall formation, making some deliciously good looking clumps for oil, poison, and flaming aoe’s
Blessing of Vengeance runs up.
Severius gets harmoniously exalted.
Choir sing non-magical shooting
Severius advances up and casts Eye of menoth, defenders wards on the Flameguard, and death sentence on the Croaks.
The Redeemer advances up and takes three shots at the Croaks and kills a couple.
Judicator advances up and takes three rocket pod shots at the Croaks with his ancillary attack and kills a couple more. Only one Croak made a tough check, and he still died #sadface.
The zealots do warding, mini feat, and run up.

Blessing of Vengeance runs up.
Severius gets harmoniously exalted.
Choir sing non-magical shooting
Severius advances up and casts Eye of menoth, defenders wards on the Flameguard, and death sentence on the Croaks. Also pops his feat.

Skorne turn 2:
Ashenviel is upkept and fury is taken in.
The Croaks advance up and toss some oil bombs, getting some bad deviations, but still manage to drench that large clump of Flameguard.
Hexeris casts snipe on his bonded Sentinel and advances up.
Cyclops raider puts snipe on the other Sentinel and advances up.
Bonded Sentinel advances up and takes a shot at the clump of drenched Flameguard and misses. The deviation is horrible.
The incindiarii advances up. 3 do a cra on the middle drenched Flameguard and hit but only two die and the other 3 are lit up. The other incidiarii take shots and light some zealots on fire for next turn.
The Task master advances up and puts tough and fearless on the Croaks.
The first Willbreaker does ancillary attack on the bonded Sentinel which misses and the deviation does nothing.
The second Sentinel advances up and takes a shot at the other clump of Flameguard and kills all three. He then gets ancillary attacked which deviates and does nothing.
Bronzeback runs up.
Beast handlers advance up and whip some furies off.

Menoth turn 2:
One zealot and three Flameguard stay on fire and succumb to it.
Severius upkeeps Eye of menoth and lets defenders ward and death sentence drop.
Tristan allocates 3 focus to Redeemer.
Severius advances up, just a little short of the wall and casts Death sentence on the Croaks and Ashes to Ashes on one croak, but rolls a one for additional targets which is an Incindiarii. The Croak takes no damage as he’s immune to fire and  the incindiarii takes four points of damage.
The Zealots do ferver and lob some grenades. They do light damage to my Raider and light him on fire. They kill a couple incidiarii.
The Flameguard take three swings at my Croaks and miss.
Choir sing battle.
The Judicator takes his shots and kills a couple of croaks, putting one out of formation. He also damages the Bronzeback and triggers hyper aggressive which puts him dangerously close to the Judicator.
The Redeemer takes a shot at the bonded Sentinel hitting it. Does one point of damage and hurts the incindiarii beside him. The other shots scatter and does some damage to my willbreaker and kill a beast handler.

Skorne turn 3:
Just to possibly end things quick, my right Sentinel gets snipe and puppet master put on him. He activates, aims, and shoots at Severius. It hits on the boost and I boost the damage which is dice off three. I roll a 6-6-4-2 and opt to reroll the 2 which turns into a 3. Severius collapses in a cloud of poison and with his last breath yells “Why have you forsaken me!”
Victory Skorne.

Post Game Analysis (Marc)

Hopefully, Darrell has learned a valuable lesson about sharing… and about keeping Sevy safer! Sevy doesn’t really want to be dropped against Skorne at the best of times… Skorne tends to bring too many AoEs to the party, and Sevy really struggles to camp enough to stay safe from them (to say nothing about being lit on fire!). A Devout might’ve helped, but Darrell’s list already had a lot of warjacks…

To be honest, it probably was an uphill battle from the start. If I were in Darrell’s shoes, I probably would’ve concentrated far more firepower on the Bronzeback (as the most credible threat to the Judicator) and have kept ALL my infantry between Kassem’s warbeasts and Judi… but whadda I know?

Anyways! Thanks for listening (and thanks Kassem for the write up!).
